From Humble Beginings

In 1967, Cason Water District was born as an ambitious project conceived by a handful of local citizens meeting in the back of Black’s Grocery Store in Monroe County.

Through the dedication of these community leaders and initial backing from the Farmers Home Administration (now the USDA), the district was officially established in 1968.

The inaugural Board of Trustees included:

  • J. L. Black

  • Lee Armstrong

  • George Kennedy

  • Buford Hester

  • Bill Patterson

Under the leadership of Ralph “Wimp” Parham—the system’s first water operator—Cason Water launched with just 5 miles of water lines serving 67 customers

Decades of Growth & Infrastructure Expansion

Over decades of continued investment and partnership with the USDA, Cason Water has expanded dramatically across North Mississippi:

  • 1,750+ Active Customers across Itawamba, Lee, and Monroe Counties.

  • Nearly 850 Miles of distribution mains.

  • 4 Storage Tanks currently in service, with clean, treated drinking water sourced directly from the Northeast Mississippi Regional Water Supply District (Fulton Intake).

Looking Ahead: Construction is currently underway on a new storage tank on Old Carolina Rd. Once operational, it will expand total storage capacity by over 400,000 gallons.
